Quantity Surveyor – Painting & Decorating

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor – Painting & Decorating will manage commercial painting and decorating projects, delivering accurate cost estimates and ensuring projects stay within budget and scope. You will work closely with site and contract managers across locations in Carlisle or Manchester.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, quotations and tender submissions, covering labour, materials, preliminaries and programme considerations.
• Liaise with site and contract managers to monitor project progress and update any changes to the agreed contract scope.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Manage projects ranging from £4k to £4m, ensuring financial control and profitability.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within painting, decorating, dry‑lining, finishing or fit‑out sectors.
• Background in a subcontractor environment with commercial project exposure.
• Strong technical knowledge of industry processes, materials and cost structures.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
