Call Handler / Emergency Response Specialist (Mid-day Shift)

About the role

TaskUs is looking for a Call Handler / Emergency Response Specialist to support autonomous vehicles in complex driving scenarios. You will act as a fleet response team member, giving real-time guidance and support to autonomous vehicles (AVs) in the mid-day shift.

Key responsibilities

• Navigational assistance: guide AVs through challenging situations such as blocked streets, narrow lanes and private driveways
• Decision making: collaborate with AVs to optimise driving paths, taking account of lane closures and traffic conditions
• Safety oversight: monitor AV behaviour and intervene to avoid hazards
• Human-machine interaction: maintain effective communication with AVs for timely responses
• Problem solving: adapt to changing road conditions and address unexpected challenges quickly
• Continuous learning: analyse past performance to help improve AV technology
• Safety compliance: follow all relevant safety regulations and certifications

Required profile

• Valid full UK driving licence with 3 years of driving experience and a clean record
• Pass a background check and drug and alcohol test
• Nice to have: 999/emergency telecommunications experience or similar (minimum 1 year)
• Ability to stay focused and seated for several hours, multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Schedule flexibility to support a 24/7 operation including holidays

Required skills

• Customer service, de-escalation, communication and interpersonal skills (2 years experience)
• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving and decision-making
• Adaptability to new technologies and ability to self-correct
