CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist & Clinical Safeguarding Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to lead clinical care on Mulberry Ward, a 12‑bed intensive support service for young people requiring inpatient treatment. In addition to senior medical cover, the post holder will act as the Clinical and Safeguarding Lead for the Cygnet Group, ensuring high‑quality, age‑appropriate mental health care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior medical cover and act as Responsible Clinician for all in‑patients on Mulberry Ward.
• Lead the development and implementation of individual treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Assess referrals, conduct mental state examinations, and oversee investigations, diagnosis and treatment.
• Conduct regular ward rounds, patient reviews and clinical audits to maintain GMC standards.
• Serve as the Clinical and Safeguarding Lead, overseeing safeguarding policies and ensuring compliance across the organisation.
• Audit medical services, monitor quality indicators and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Fully registered Consultant Psychiatrist with GMC registration.
• Extensive experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
• Proven leadership in a hospital or intensive support setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and other specialists.
