Category Buyer – Technology Procurement

About the role

The Category Buyer – Technology Procurement will support ASDA’s procurement transformation by managing sourcing activities across technology categories, driving cost savings and supplier performance while collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end sourcing projects across technology procurement categories, from requirement gathering to contract award.
• Support the development and execution of category plans and sourcing strategies.
• Build effective relationships with technology and business stakeholders to understand needs and deliver commercial outcomes.
• Lead supplier negotiations and assist in creating and managing contracts and commercial agreements.
• Analyse spend and supplier data to identify savings, efficiency and value opportunities.
• Support supplier performance management, risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, processes and governance requirements.
• Contribute to procurement transformation initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement, purchasing or category management within technology categories such as software, SaaS, professional services, telecommunications or managed services.
• Proven track record of delivering sourcing and contract negotiation activities.
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Ability to work with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
• Excellent communication, relationship‑building and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
