Children's Social Worker – Child Protection (Temporary Full‑time)

About the role

The council in Yorkshire is looking for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join its Child Protection (CP) team on a temporary full‑time basis. You will work directly with children and families, safeguarding vulnerable youngsters and ensuring statutory requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Child Protection cases, conducting assessments, planning and interventions.
• Carry out statutory visits, produce assessments and direct work with children and families to identify risks and support needs.
• Develop, implement and review Child Protection Plans, meeting outcome‑focused actions within statutory timescales.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with children, families and partner agencies to promote engagement.
• Participate in Strategy Discussions, Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups and multi‑agency safeguarding meetings.
• Assess and manage risk, responding promptly to emerging concerns.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate interventions and ensure appropriate support.
• Maintain accurate, timely case records, assessments and court reports in line with statutory and professional standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience working as a qualified social worker.
