Civil Design Engineer – Water Infrastructure Projects

About the role

This role is for a Civil Design Engineer joining a multidisciplinary design team delivering water infrastructure projects across the UK. Based in Exeter with hybrid working, you will support optioneering, outline and detailed design stages for major water utility schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical civil engineering design in line with client requirements and relevant standards.
• Support design activities across optioneering, outline and detailed design stages.
• Prepare, monitor and manage project plans and delivery schedules.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and third parties as required.
• Promote health, safety, welfare and environmental compliance on all work.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary project delivery within the water sector.
• Support quality assurance and project governance processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years post‑qualification experience.
• Working towards or progressing to Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive, proactive and motivated attitude.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of CAD/Revit.
• Understanding of BIM principles.
• Experience with hydraulic calculations (advantageous).
• Familiarity with sustainable design practices.
