Client Portfolio Tax Manager - Personal Tax

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Personal Tax professional to join a friendly, well‑established accountancy practice in London. As a Client Portfolio Tax Manager you will own a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, provide high‑quality advice and contribute to the firm’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, including individuals, landlords, directors, sole traders and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Prepare and review Self‑Assessment, partnership and trust tax returns.
• Prepare P11Ds and PSA calculations and calculate tax liabilities.
• Advise clients on tax payments, positions and compliance requirements.
• Handle HMRC correspondence, enquiries and client queries.
• Identify tax planning opportunities in Capital Gains Tax, residency and Inheritance Tax.
• Collaborate with accounts and outsourcing teams to obtain information efficiently.
• Support and develop junior team members through training and review.
• Contribute to improvements in internal processes, systems and templates.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a personal tax portfolio within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of Self‑Assessment, Capital Gains Tax and personal tax compliance.
• Experience handling HMRC enquiries and complex personal tax matters.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical tax issues in plain English.
• Confidence to manage client relationships from initial contact through to completion.

Required skills

• TaxCalc (or similar tax software) experience.
