Clinical Pharmacist (Independent Prescriber) – Cannabis Medicine

About the role

Montu UK is expanding its cannabis‑based treatment service in the West Midlands and seeks a Clinical Pharmacist with Independent Prescriber status. This hybrid position blends hands‑on patient care with multidisciplinary collaboration to shape a fast‑evolving specialty.

Key responsibilities

• Review and clinically check cannabis‑based medicine (CBPM) prescriptions for safety and accuracy.
• Prescribe CBPMs as an Independent Prescriber, tailoring treatment to individual patient needs.
• Provide expert guidance to prescribers and patients on treatment options.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with GPhC standards.
• Support the dispensary team by handling complex clinical queries.
• Deliver education and training on CBPMs to patients, clinicians, and staff.
• Collaborate with the wider clinical team to streamline processes and improve outcomes.

Required profile

• GPhC‑registered pharmacist with an Independent Prescriber qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of prescribing experience in a clinical setting.
• Willingness to undergo specialised training in cannabis‑based medicines if not already experienced.
• Strong communication skills across clinical and non‑clinical settings.
• Proactive, resource‑ful and able to manage complex workflows.
