About the role

Howden, a global insurance group, is offering a Commercial Insurance Apprenticeship for its 2027 intake based in Croydon. You will join on a permanent role and complete an 18-month development programme, starting in September 2027. The apprenticeship is for an Insurance Account Handler position within the Commercial & Schemes division, which serves clients in construction, hospitality, manufacturing, real estate, motor, education and professional services. You will work at least 4 days a week in the office and must live within commuting distance.

Key responsibilities

• Learn the foundations of commercial insurance and how an Account Handler supports clients.
• Draft clear and professional email correspondence for clients and insurers.
• Answer client queries and gather information by email and phone.
• Gather and share the information needed to manage policies and support client requests.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
• Manage policy amendments and the renewal process.

Required profile

• No insurance experience needed; training is provided.
• Full and unrestricted right to work in the UK.
• Lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years.
• Grade C/4 in GCSE English and Maths.
• Not already holding a qualification that significantly overlaps with this apprenticeship.
• Confident communicator, organised, attentive to detail and proactive.
