Community Staff Nurse – School Nursing

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Community Staff Nurse to join the School Nursing service within Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership. The role involves delivering person‑centred nursing care to children, young people and families across community, school and home settings, promoting health, wellbeing and early intervention.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to children, young people and families in community, education and home environments.
• Support the School Nurse in assessing, planning and implementing evidence‑based programmes of care.
• Collaborate with families, schools, multi‑agency partners and professionals to identify and address health needs.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with NHSGGC and NMC standards.
• Promote health improvement, prevention and early intervention to reduce health inequalities.
• Manage delegated workload effectively while contributing to team priorities.
• Participate in clinical supervision, practice development, audit and service improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered first‑level nurse with a current NMC registration and a live UK PIN.
• Degree‑level nursing qualification.
• Willingness to undertake postgraduate School Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) training.
• Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development.
• Strong communication skills with children, young people, families and professionals.
• Ability to work independently using initiative while contributing effectively to a team.
• Knowledge of child, family and community health issues.
