Computing and Software Support Specialist

About the role

The Computing and Software Support Specialist provides 2nd‑line technical advice and assistance to users of ECMWF software and computing platforms, helping them maximise the value of open data, cloud services, GPU resources and machine‑learning tools.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver day‑to‑day 2nd‑line support to Member, Co‑operating State, ECMWF and public users.
• Prioritise, escalate and resolve technical issues while exercising sound judgement.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of support processes, documentation and service quality.
• Collaborate with the Computing and Software Support Team to enhance cloud services, GPU computing and machine‑learning workflows.
• Maintain clear communication with users and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong interest in emerging technologies and cloud‑based scientific computing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently while supporting team objectives.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud services (e.g., European Weather Cloud).
• Knowledge of GPU resources and high‑performance computing.
• Familiarity with machine‑learning development environments.
