Construction Manager – Transpennine Route Upgrade

About the role
The Construction Manager will act as Network Rail's on‑site representative for the Transpennine Route Upgrade, ensuring that contractor activities are safe, efficient and meet high quality standards. This role involves daily monitoring of construction work, liaising with engineers and managing site inspections.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with GRIP, railway standards and legislation.
- Review contractor method statements and risk assessments in partnership with the Protection Engineer.
- Coordinate access, possession, storage and worksites to facilitate efficient progress.
- Conduct regular inspections, issue instructions and close non‑conformance reports.
- Inspect completed works, assess readiness for hand‑over and manage remedial actions.
- Lead site meetings, track progress against the contract programme and maintain a strong on‑site presence.
Required profile
- Experience in managing large‑scale railway or infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, GRIP processes and Network Rail standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.

- Competitive salary ranging from £43,588 to £51,719 per annum.
