Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist to join its specialist addiction services across Northwest Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire. Working Monday to Friday, 9‑5, you will provide expert clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team delivering care for alcohol and opiate dependency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to patient assessments, treatment planning and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Provide consultant‑level expertise to community alcohol and drug teams, day and inpatient services.
• Participate in research projects, teaching initiatives and service development.
• Ensure compliance with the Scottish Mental Health Act as an Approved Mental Health Professional.

Required profile

• Full registration with the GMC.
• MRCPsych or FRCPsych qualification (or equivalent).
• Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
• Eligibility for approval under the Scottish Mental Health Act as an AMP.
