Consultant in Palliative Medicine

About the role

We are seeking two Consultants in Palliative Medicine to join Strathcarron Hospice in Central Scotland. The role involves delivering 6‑8 clinical sessions per week, with additional on‑call sessions compensated at a higher rate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist palliative care across the hospice inpatient unit, community services and the Hospital palliative care team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
• Contribute to the hospice’s strategic development, service innovation, training, quality improvement and research programmes.
• Participate in on‑call duties (one in five weeks) with extra paid sessions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of consultants, specialty doctors and allied health professionals.

Required profile

• Fully qualified Consultant or Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine, or a doctor expecting CCT within the next 6 months.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care and to the hospice’s values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Willingness to undergo a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.
