Cover Supervisor – Secondary Academy (Hackney)

About the role
We are looking for enthusiastic Cover Supervisors and Cover Teachers to support a secondary academy in Hackney from September. The role is full‑time and long‑term, providing continuity of learning while regular staff are absent.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects, keeping pupils engaged and on task.
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons and learning activities in line with academy expectations.
- Manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
- Support students in completing classwork and achieving lesson objectives.
- Take registers and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress, engagement and behaviour.
- Follow all academy policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management.
Required profile
- Experience working with secondary‑aged students in a school setting.
- Strong classroom management and confidence leading groups of young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Flexible, proactive and professional attitude.
- Organisational skills and ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
