Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools in Newham

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Newham from September. This temporary, full‑time position offers the chance to gain classroom experience while covering short‑term teacher absences.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes during the teacher’s absence, ensuring students stay on task.
• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Report lesson progress to teaching staff.
• No planning or marking duties are required.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in schools, coaching, mentoring or similar settings.
• Strong communication and classroom management abilities.
• Confidence leading groups of students aged 11‑18.
• Flexible, professional and positive attitude.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
