Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools (Sunderland)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking confident, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Sunderland from September 2026. You will supervise classes during short‑term teacher absences, ensuring students stay engaged with pre‑prepared work and a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials and instructions.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning.
• Provide support and guidance where appropriate.
• Report back to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour.
• Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Confidence managing groups of students independently.
• A positive, proactive and adaptable approach.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people and education.
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
