Credit Risk Policy Manager

About the role

HSBC is seeking an experienced Credit Risk Policy Manager to lead the UK Retail Banking and Wealth Customers in Financial Difficulties policy. The role will ensure the policy is up‑to‑date, compliant with regulation and delivers fair outcomes for customers in arrears.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and annually review the UK RBW Customers in Financial Difficulties policy for Collections and Recoveries.
• Set, develop and monitor adherence to the policy, ensuring good customer outcomes and internal standards.
• Provide oversight of 1st Line of Defence compliance and risk stewardship of debt collection agencies and debt purchasers.
• Ensure the Forbearance Toolkit meets customer needs and is supported by business cases.
• Support Credit Risk activities aligned with the bank’s commercial strategy for recoveries.
• Assist change initiatives and operational programmes, escalating concerns as needed.
• Collaborate with the Financial Support Team to deliver Collections and Recoveries changes across the organisation.
• Mentor team members and help develop their skills.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a risk discipline, preferably within Collections or Recoveries.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and macro‑environmental factors affecting Collections and Recoveries.
• Experience managing policy development, review and compliance monitoring.
• Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, including debt collection agencies.
• Demonstrated capability to support change programmes and provide risk oversight.
