Job description
About the role
As a Customer Delivery Driver at Waitrose Bracknell (Bond Way), you bring quality produce and partner-led service to customers' doors. The role is highly active and physical and customer-facing, with direct interaction with people and keeping things moving. When not on the road, you complete daily shop tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping. The position is permanent, paid at £14.31 per hour, with varied part-time hours of 15.5 hours across Friday and Saturday between 06:30 and 15:00.
Key responsibilities
- Start each day in the store, then act as a friendly face for the Waitrose brand on the road, with excellent customer service as your main goal.
- Talk with customers about order changes such as substitutions or short-dated items, and arrange refunds quickly if they are unhappy.
- Handle all products and deliveries carefully, and make sure customers know they will not be charged extra for substituted items.
- Help customers with their groceries and build a strong, trusting relationship with them.
- Familiarise yourself with your delivery route for the day.
- Carry out a full safety check of the van each day to ensure it is road-ready and compliant with safety rules.
- Help the wider CFC team with general warehouse tasks when off the road.
Required profile
- Age 18 or older.
- A full, valid UK manual car driving licence (B-category) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- People skills and a friendly approach to customer service.
- Willingness to do physical work such as lifting crates, walking up stairs and moving large cages of around 18kg.
- Previous work driving or knowledge of refrigerated vans is a plus.
What we offer
- Night premium of £3.75 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00.
- Partnership discounts: 25% off at John Lewis and 20% at Waitrose after completing the 90-day earning membership.
- Up to £200 towards certain tutored courses, holiday and leave, pension and life assurance, and club memberships.
- Support for flexible working, including flexible or compressed hours, job sharing or shorter-hour contracts where possible.
