Customer Service Representative – Trade Counter

About the role

Join a dynamic team in Chelmsford as a Customer Service Representative, working on the trade counter to deliver friendly, efficient service to customers. This temporary position offers an immediate start and the chance to develop product knowledge while supporting daily store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with customers at the trade counter, providing courteous service and answering queries.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of product ranges, promotions and training material.
• Process customer orders, quotations, and complaints promptly.
• Stock, clean and organise the trade counter and customer area.
• Source and order non‑stock items, manage stock levels and participate in stock takes.
• Handle returned products in line with warranty policies.
• Maintain accurate branch administration, including files, customer records and health‑and‑safety documentation.
• Follow health‑and‑safety guidelines, use PPE correctly and manage manual‑handling tasks safely.
• Process deliveries, sort, stack and pick orders for collection or dispatch.

Required profile

• Solid education background with good maths and English.
• Excellent telephone manner and proven customer‑service experience.
• Ability to multitask, work both independently and as part of a team.
• Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
