Cyber Security Engineer – Security Services Specialist

About the role

Join Advania’s Manchester team as a Cyber Security Engineer, delivering a full suite of security services for a diverse client base. You will be responsible for detection and response, vulnerability scanning, dark‑web monitoring, social‑engineering assessments and detailed reporting, all aimed at strengthening customers’ security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate within a multi‑disciplined security team to deliver proactive and reactive security tasks.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex security events, applying structured problem‑solving techniques.
• Manage containment and remediation of malicious incidents across the customer portfolio.
• Design, build and maintain scalable security tooling and integrations using DevOps practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code).
• Contribute to AI‑driven threat detection and response capabilities.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve incidents and ensure vulnerability compliance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the threat landscape, including threat actors, TTPs and emerging vulnerabilities.

Required skills

• Security tooling design, build and optimisation.
• Automation development using modern DevOps practices.
• CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with secured cloud architectures (Azure, AWS).
• Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Vulnerability scanning, dark‑web monitoring and social‑engineering assessment.
• AI‑driven threat detection and response concepts.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ‑900, MS‑900, SC‑100) – preferred.
