Damp Surveyor

About the role

The Council is looking for a proactive Damp Surveyor to join a newly formed team focused on diagnosing and resolving damp, mould, and condensation issues across its housing stock. You will play a key part in improving living conditions for residents and supporting the Council’s commitment to high‑quality housing services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead investigations of damp and mould reports, coordinating with appointed contractors.
• Develop formal briefs, specifications, procurement plans and tender documents for remedial projects.
• Process enquiries via face‑to‑face, telephone and written channels, using IT tools to maximise efficiency.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver team and corporate plans, sharing knowledge across departments.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of Council strategies and policies related to housing quality.

Required profile

• Proven ability to survey existing buildings, identify defects and determine root causes.
• Experience negotiating solutions between vulnerable clients and contractors.
• Capability to challenge poor performance and sub‑standard workmanship.
• Background in local authority or housing association environments.
