Depot Manager – High‑Volume Parcel Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead a busy, fast‑paced parcel operation in Bristol. This hands‑on leader will be responsible for overall depot performance, ensuring operational excellence, outstanding customer service, and a highly engaged workforce while meeting commercial and operational targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day operation of a high‑volume parcel depot.
• Manage warehouse and transport activities to achieve service and productivity targets.
• Drive operational performance through effective leadership and people development.
• Monitor and improve KPIs such as productivity, service levels, quality, cost, and compliance.
• Manage budgets, identify efficiency opportunities, and reduce costs.
• Ensure Health & Safety and transport compliance standards are met.
• Build a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and coach frontline managers and operational teams.
• Maintain excellent relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Lead operational change and implement best practice across the depot.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Depot Manager or Operations Manager within the parcel industry.
• Strong understanding of high‑volume parcel operations and warehouse/transport functions.
• Hands‑on leader who leads by example and is visible on the floor.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and operational KPIs.
• Excellent people management and leadership skills with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
• Experience managing operational change and driving continuous improvement.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to make decisions in a fast‑moving, time‑sensitive environment.
