Design Engineer

About the role

Office Angels is recruiting for a Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business in Aberdeen. The position is ideal for a recent graduate or an engineer with around one year of experience who wants to develop fire alarm and smoke ventilation system designs while working on a varied project portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop fire alarm and smoke ventilation system designs from customer specifications and fire strategies.
• Produce design specifications, technical documentation and detailed AutoCAD drawings.
• Carry out engineering calculations to validate system performance and compliance.
• Maintain project documentation, attend hand‑over meetings and support customers with design queries.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
• Degree‑qualified or completed an engineering apprenticeship.
• Proactive problem‑solver with strong communication and technical writing abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD for 2D design.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
