Director, Legal (Vendor) - Maternity Cover (12 Month FTC)

About the role

MUFG Investor Services is looking for an experienced senior lawyer to join its small but global legal team in the London office for a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will have broad commercial law experience and will advise the business on legal matters, risk management and commercial strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and advise on vendor agreements across global jurisdictions, including MSAs, SOWs, software licence and SaaS agreements, engagement letters and NDAs, and escalate contractual risks with Vendor Management, Outsourcing, Data Protection, Information Security and business stakeholders.
• Advise on regulatory frameworks affecting third-party vendor arrangements such as outsourcing and operational resilience, and support contract remediation, implementation and ongoing monitoring of regulatory changes.
• Manage vendor contracting end to end, from instruction through execution, including timelines, stakeholder expectations and coordination with business teams and external counsel.
• Work with Vendor Management, Procurement and Legal to improve contracting processes, governance and review procedures, and facilitate approvals and sign-offs.
• Act as legal advisor to operational teams, control and support functions, client-facing teams, senior management and governance committees.
• Apply financial services expertise to assess legal and regulatory risks and support business initiatives.
• Support strategic and regulatory projects, business transformation and governance initiatives, and undertake other ad hoc legal matters as required.

Required profile

• Qualified English solicitor with at least 5-10 years PQE.
• Admitted to the Law Society of England and Wales and in good standing.
