District Nurse (School Health)

About the role

The District Nurse provides comprehensive health services to students within a school district, ensuring safe and healthy learning environments. This position involves conducting health assessments, managing chronic conditions, and collaborating with school staff and community agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑depth developmental histories and health assessments for students.
• Conduct home and environment evaluations and generate adaptability reports.
• Coordinate with community agencies, medical facilities, parents, and social services to address health concerns.
• Provide direct nursing care, health education, and emergency response within schools.
• Maintain accurate health records and comply with state and district regulations.

Required profile

• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• School Audiometrist Certificate.
• Valid School Nurse Services Credential.
• Public Health Nursing Certificate.
• Ability to work effectively with school personnel, families, and external agencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of developmental history collection and environmental health assessment.
• Familiarity with community health resources and referral processes.
