Duty Manager – Health & Social Care

About the role

The Duty Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of a domiciliary care service in Swindon, ensuring safe, high‑quality care that meets CQC standards. You will support staff, manage emergencies and drive continuous improvement across the service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily service delivery and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Provide leadership, supervision and ongoing support to care staff.
• Participate in on‑call rota, respond to emergencies and out‑of‑hours issues.
• Conduct spot checks, staff supervisions, observations and competency assessments.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns.
• Monitor performance through KPIs and capacity tracking.
• Maintain accurate records using electronic care management systems.
• Liaise with local authorities, NHS professionals, families and other stakeholders.
• Support recruitment, induction, training and staff development.
• Ensure compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and employment legislation.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ management experience in domiciliary care or supported living.
• Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (minimum) and Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards).
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Right to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Experience with electronic care planning and rostering systems (e.g., Birdie, People Planner).
