Earthworks Site Supervisor – Civil Engineering

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Earthworks Site Supervisor to lead civil engineering activities on construction sites. You will ensure that earthworks, drainage, roadworks and related infrastructure are delivered safely, on schedule and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all on‑site earthworks and civil engineering tasks, including excavation, grading, drainage, road construction, retaining structures and utilities.
• Coordinate daily with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain smooth operations.
• Organise site workers, plant operators and subcontractors for optimal productivity.
• Conduct daily briefings and toolbox talks covering safety, work schedules and quality expectations.
• Monitor progress, record daily activities and report issues to the Project Manager.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental and sustainability regulations.
• Inspect work for quality and maintain accurate records of materials and equipment usage.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of supervision experience in civil engineering or earthworks.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3/4, SMSTS or SSSTS.
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, highways and infrastructure construction techniques.
• Good understanding of CDM Regulations and other health & safety legislation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• SSSTS certification
• CPCS/NPORS plant tickets (advantageous)
• Temporary Works Supervisor certification
• First Aid certification
