Education Payroll & Pensions Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Education Payroll & Pensions Specialist to join our product team and help shape Every Payroll, a dedicated payroll and pensions solution for schools and trusts. The role is fully remote and will work closely with the Product Director, engineers and managed‑service teams to ensure the software meets the evolving UK education payroll and pension requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Use deep knowledge of UK education payroll and pension legislation to influence product enhancements.
• Translate statutory, payroll and pension requirements into clear system specifications.
• Review payroll calculations, pension submissions and statutory outputs for accuracy and compliance.
• Support design, testing and rollout of new functionality, acting as the voice of the customer.
• Troubleshoot complex payroll and pension issues and propose long‑term solutions.
• Identify automation opportunities and improvements to self‑service features.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing end‑to‑end payroll for Local Authority schools, Multi‑Academy Trusts or Single Academy Trusts.
• Strong understanding of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
• Proven ability to interpret payroll outputs and resolve calculation queries.
• Experience working with education payroll software and pension interfaces.

Required skills

• Every Payroll, iTrent, Cintra or similar education payroll platforms.
• Pension submission interfaces such as MDC, MCR, iConnect, Civica UPM, WYPF.
