Electrical Test Systems Engineer Placement – 12 months

About the role

An exciting 12‑month placement within Airbus Defence and Space’s Spacecraft Production organisation in Portsmouth. You will join a multidisciplinary team supporting the OneSat satellite programme, preparing and deploying electrical and thermal test equipment for payload validation.

Key responsibilities

• Build, configure and validate test infrastructure, including Eurostar Neo control racks, electrical integration software, TMACE thermal monitoring racks, Neo block desk consoles, Payload Power Supply Units and bespoke software.
• Design and validate custom harnesses and support equipment for product and test validation.
• Evaluate payload performance against requirements, analyse non‑conformances and provide hands‑on clean‑room support during test execution.
• Drive R&D initiatives, technological innovations and process improvements within the Airbus DS Open Innovation framework.
• Ensure “Right First Time” quality inputs for clean‑room deployment and actively track and mitigate non‑quality issues.

Required profile

• Currently studying for a degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Strong interest in telecommunications, aerospace or military engineering and in automatic test systems.
• Basic understanding of electrical test equipment and electrical measurements.
• Ability to communicate confidently with internal and external customers and work autonomously.
• Problem‑solving mindset and prior experience using electrical test equipment.
