About the role

Network Rail Scotland offers a 2‑year Graduate Scheme in Electronic & Communications Engineering. You will start with a comprehensive business familiarisation period to understand the railway system, then rotate through formal placements within your chosen discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Gain a broad understanding of railway infrastructure, operations and safety standards.
• Contribute to major investment projects, supporting design, assessment, maintenance and renewal of assets.
• Work on signalling, telecoms and SCADA power distribution systems to ensure reliable service for passengers and freight.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver sustainable, climate‑resilient railway solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2:2 in an IET‑accredited engineering degree.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for training across different locations.
• Logical and creative thinker capable of solving complex engineering problems.
