Emergency Housing Officer – Support Homeless Households

About the role

The Emergency Housing Officer will join a busy local authority housing service to support homeless households and manage emergency accommodation placements. You will work in a hybrid model, spending three days in the office and two days working from home, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with housing legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and manage placements and properties within the housing system.
• Open and close bookings, set up and manage rent accounts for emergency accommodations.
• Maintain accurate tenancy and placement records.
• Ensure compliance with Section 188 and Section 193 duties, manage Licence Agreements and Non‑Secure Tenancies.
• Utilise NEC, CRM, and Locata systems to improve operational efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with residents, providers, landlords, and colleagues.

Required profile

• Experienced in emergency or temporary accommodation, preferably within a local authority.
• Strong knowledge of housing law and homelessness legislation.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Customer‑focused with empathy, patience, and resilience when supporting vulnerable households.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of NEC, CRM, and Locata systems.
• Proficiency with housing management systems and databases.

• Competitive hourly rate of £21.41 – £28.19 (PAYE/Umbrella).
