Engineering Manager

About the role

Our client, a privately-owned advanced engineering business, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and support the next phase of growth. The role involves overseeing the design and manufacture of scientific and industrial products from R&D through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Manage technical project groups through all phases of the project lifecycle: requirements capture, design, verification, testing and handover.
• Define and implement engineering processes, design standards and best practices to ensure quality, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Plan and allocate resources, manage budgets, set priorities and track project performance against scope, schedule and cost targets.
• Act as principal technical interface with stakeholders, customers and suppliers to resolve risks and issues and ensure alignment of requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned, and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Lead recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development for engineering staff.
• Ensure robust risk management, technical governance and documentation across projects.

Required profile

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• Significant experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams or technical project groups and delivering complex projects.
• Strong technical judgement and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to make clear technical decisions.
