Engineering Specialist

About the role

The Engineering Specialist will lead the application engineering, programming, troubleshooting, start‑up and checkout of complex security and building automation projects. Working with minimal supervision, you will act as the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring high satisfaction and successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse plans, functional specifications and contracts to define project requirements and manage estimating, design, tracking, start‑up and planning phases.
• Prepare and review shop drawings and wiring diagrams, indicating device locations, equipment and cabling.
• Advise Project Managers and Sales on appropriate products, flagging any product line issues to keep projects on schedule.
• Provide custom system integrations, detailed upgrade planning, system audits, consultation and database management.
• Install, configure and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
• Assist with preparation of formal submittal booklets containing schematics and technical literature.
• Deliver onsite assistance during installation, start‑up, checkout and turnover processes.
• Coordinate project schedules and field labour, communicating changes and progress to customers.
• Support financial review of actual versus estimated job costs and generate accurate cost reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience in application engineering and programming for security and building automation systems.
• Strong ability to interpret technical specifications, contracts and functional drawings.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with project teams.
