English Teacher – September Start (Preston)

About the role

We are seeking a fully qualified English teacher to join a high‑achieving secondary school in Preston from September 2026. The position is full‑time and long‑term, allowing you to embed yourself within the department and make a lasting impact on student progress.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) students.
• Assess student work, monitor progress and provide feedback aligned with GCSE standards.
• Maintain a positive classroom culture that promotes high behaviour and achievement standards.
• Collaborate with the English department to share resources and support student success.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject.
• Proven experience teaching English up to KS4 (GCSE) level.
• Commitment to a long‑term teaching post.
• Current Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum for KS3 and KS4.
• Ability to design and deliver effective lesson plans.
• Competence in assessing and reporting student progress.
