Enterprise Architect

About the role

The Enterprise Architect will shape the long‑term technology architecture strategy for the FT’s Technology organisation, aligning investments, platforms and capabilities with business priorities while balancing innovation, resilience and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the enterprise technology strategy, target‑state architecture and roadmaps aligned with the FT’s long‑term objectives.
• Evaluate major initiatives and investments against architecture principles, simplifying and modernising the technology estate.
• Define and enforce enterprise architecture standards, chair review forums and guide strategic technology decisions.
• Partner with Technology and Product leaders to translate business priorities into capability roadmaps and support transformation projects.
• Provide oversight of platform strategies, build‑versus‑buy decisions and major supplier relationships.

Required profile

• Significant experience in enterprise architecture or senior technology strategy roles within complex digital organisations.
• Proven track record of creating technology strategies, target‑state architectures and transformation roadmaps.
• Ability to influence decisions across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leaders.
