Estate Assistant – Grounds Maintenance (Stevenage & Welwyn Garden City)

About the role

We are seeking two Estate Assistants to join a leading affordable‑housing provider in Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City. The role involves maintaining communal outdoor areas to a high standard and acting as the on‑site representative for residents and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform gardening and grounds maintenance across a varied portfolio of sites, including lawn mowing, shrub and plant care, and seasonal work.
• Carry out occasional cleaning of internal communal areas as required.
• Build positive relationships with residents, contractors and colleagues.
• Report repairs, fly‑tipping, graffiti and safeguarding concerns to the relevant teams.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH and PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in estate or grounds maintenance across different garden types.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high levels of resident satisfaction.
• Capability to work safely and independently while following health‑and‑safety guidelines.
• Strong teamwork skills and initiative.

• Gardening and lawn care techniques.

• Health & Safety legislation knowledge.
• COSHH compliance.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
