Estates Care Taker (Birmingham)

About the role

As an Estates Care Taker in Birmingham you will ensure that a portfolio of public sector properties is kept safe, clean and well‑maintained. You will carry out routine maintenance, respond to on‑site requests and support contractors, helping the organisation deliver a high standard of property service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across the property portfolio.
• Keep communal areas clean, safe and presentable.
• Conduct regular inspections to spot and resolve maintenance issues.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and ad‑hoc on‑site requests.
• Assist with waste management, recycling and disposal duties.
• Support external contractors and service providers as required.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and report major problems.
• Follow health and safety guidelines at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience in property maintenance or a similar hands‑on role.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with colleagues and contractors.

Required skills
