Exams Officer – Secondary School

About the role

Prospero Teaching is partnering with a secondary school in Basingstoke to recruit a highly organised Exams Officer to start in September. The role is central to supporting students through internal and external examinations, ensuring smooth administration and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the administration of all internal and external examinations, including entries, timetables, results and post‑results services.
• Ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
• Coordinate examination arrangements for students and staff, and manage access arrangements with the SEND department.
• Recruit, train and supervise a team of exam invigilators.
• Maintain secure systems for examination papers, materials and data, adhering to safeguarding policies.
• Collaborate closely with teaching staff, students, parents and external organisations.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with excellent time‑management.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
• Proactive, flexible and solution‑focused approach.
• Comfortable communicating with students, staff and external agencies.
• Experience in examinations administration is beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to undertake training and professional development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using examination management software and secure data handling.
• Familiarity with JCQ regulatory frameworks.

• Permanent contract (40 weeks per year) – 37 hours per week.
• Salary £24,371 – £26,814 per annum (FTE £27,780 – £30,564).
