Experienced Powder Coater – Sheet Metal Fabrication

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Powder Coater to join a leading sheet‑metal fabrication business in Stevenage. The role involves delivering high‑quality powder‑coated finishes on a variety of components while supporting the wider shop floor as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare parts for coating by cleaning, masking and checking specifications.
• Operate spray guns, powder reclaiming systems and related coating equipment.
• Perform visual inspections to ensure proper paint flow, viscosity and finish quality.
• Load and bake components at correct temperatures and times.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any faults.
• Assist with other shop‑floor duties when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years of hands‑on powder‑coating experience in a sheet‑metal environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and apply masking accordingly.
• Self‑motivated and capable of working independently in a fast‑paced setting.

What we offer

• Competitive salary up to £31,500 per year (approximately £15 per hour) depending on experience.
• Standard 40‑hour week (8 am‑4.30 pm) with overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half.
