Experienced Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Hounslow)

About the role

A welcoming secondary school in Hounslow is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join its student support team. The role focuses on pastoral care and inclusive education, helping students with a range of special educational needs achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to students during lessons, ensuring they can engage with the curriculum.
• Deliver targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to build confidence and progress.
• Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement effective learning strategies.
• Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school.
• Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Patient, resilient, and flexible approach to supporting young people.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Required skills

• Understanding of SEN support, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
