External Communications Manager

About the role

Veolia is seeking an External Communications Manager to shape and amplify its brand across the UK. Working from a hybrid base in London, you will partner with the Head of External Communications to deliver a compelling media strategy that highlights Veolia’s ecological transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the media strategy for national, regional, broadcast and trade outlets.
• Create, proof‑read and edit proactive media content, press releases and story pitches.
• Secure media coverage and manage reactive communications, including out‑of‑hours and crisis response.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and key media influencers.
• Identify emerging media opportunities and provide timely media responses.

Required profile

• Proven ability to produce press‑ready content and manage press briefings.
• Demonstrable experience designing and running effective media campaigns.
• Strong analytical and research skills, capable of explaining complex technical topics.
• Leadership qualities with decisive, independent working under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and public‑speaking abilities.
• Experience overseeing a busy press office, including press line and inbox management.
