EYFS Teaching Assistant

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for a caring EYFS Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with additional needs. The role starts on a reduced morning timetable in September 2026 and will progress to full‑time as the child settles into school life.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver dedicated 1:1 assistance to help the pupil acclimatise to daily routines.
• Implement personalised learning and behaviour plans under the guidance of the SENDCO and class teacher.
• Support morning activities, phonics sessions and play‑based learning.
• Adapt classroom tasks to make the curriculum accessible and engaging.
• Monitor progress and share feedback with staff and parents.

Required profile

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher.
• Proven experience supporting children with SEN, preferably in EYFS or KS1.
• Experience with autism, speech and language difficulties or global developmental delay is desirable.
• Calm, encouraging and resilient attitude.
• Willingness to start with morning sessions and move to full‑time.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Knowledge of SEN strategies and early years pedagogy.
