Finance Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Finance Assistant to join the Bursary team at a well-regarded school in Oxford. Working closely with the Senior Finance Officer, you will support a range of finance activities across purchase and fees ledgers while enjoying a flexible hybrid working pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the purchase ledger: code invoices, review supplier statements, generate payment proposals and process payments.
• Support the fees ledger: collate billing information, input data and assist with term-end procedures.
• Assist with budget reporting, petty-cash distribution and preparation of management accounts.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal colleagues, chasing outstanding items and ensuring timely resolution.
• Provide ad-hoc finance support such as journal entries and preparation of annual accounts.

Required profile

• Significant experience in Accounts Payable within a small finance team.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage a busy, varied workload.
• Pro-active, self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

What we offer

• Salary £30,000-£33,000 per annum (pro-rated for part-time).
• 20-24 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
• Hybrid working – office base in Summertown, Oxford and remote flexibility.
