Finance Business Partner – SME Advisory

About the role

The Finance Business Partner will support a portfolio of small‑and‑medium enterprise (SME) clients, providing financial insight, strategic guidance and commercial support. Working closely with business owners, you will help them understand performance, spot growth opportunities and make informed decisions, acting as a trusted adviser rather than handling day‑to‑day compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage relationships with a portfolio of business clients and act as their first point of contact.
• Review management information and discuss financial performance with clients.
• Provide commercial insight and practical recommendations to drive growth.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning discussions.
• Identify opportunities, risks and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure an excellent client experience.
• Oversee client engagement, retention and service delivery.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice or outsourced finance environment.
• Strong client‑facing and relationship‑management abilities.
• Proven experience reviewing management accounts and discussing financial performance.
• Ability to explain financial information clearly and practically.
• Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with Xero, QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent experience (qualification not essential).
