Finance Director – Property & Construction

About the role

Harper May Ltd, a London‑based property and construction group with £50‑80m turnover, is seeking a Finance Director to build a robust financial framework for its next growth phase. Reporting to the Chief Executive and sitting on the Board, you will combine strategic financial planning with day‑to‑day operational control across residential and commercial schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a financial strategy aligned with board growth and investment objectives.
• Own project costing, margin tracking and work‑in‑progress accounting for the active scheme portfolio.
• Manage group cash flow, working capital and relationships with lenders and funders.
• Establish financial controls, governance frameworks and risk reporting suitable for a growing business.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning for new ventures and acquisitions.
• Oversee year‑end audit, tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Build and lead a small finance team, embedding systems and processes.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Significant experience as a Finance Manager or senior finance lead within property development or construction.
• Proven track record of building or improving finance capability and teams in a growing business.
• Comfort communicating with Board members and external stakeholders.
