Finance Director – Strategic Growth & Exit Planning

About the role

We are seeking a commercially driven Finance Director to join a high‑growth, investor‑backed organisation in Hertfordshire. Working closely with the CEO, Board and private‑equity investors, you will shape financial strategy, lead commercial decision‑making and prepare the business for a future exit event.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO and Board to define and execute long‑term financial strategy.
• Lead the finance function, ensuring robust control, governance and compliance.
• Develop three‑ to five‑year financial models supporting strategic planning, investment decisions and growth.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning across the business.
• Deliver board reporting, KPI dashboards and commercial analysis.
• Prepare the business for investment, refinancing or exit by ensuring investor‑ready financial data.
• Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions, disposals and investment transactions.
• Manage relationships with external advisers including auditors, tax advisers, banks and corporate finance specialists.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow and operational efficiency.
• Drive process improvements, systems enhancements and financial automation.
• Support commercial negotiations, pricing strategies and contract reviews.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Proven experience as a Finance Director or Head of Finance in a fast‑growing, investor‑backed environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience with M&A, financial modelling and preparing businesses for exit events.
