Finance Operations Accountant (12‑month Fixed‑Term Contract)

About the role

Polo Managing Agency (PMA) is seeking a Finance Operations Accountant to act as the bridge between Finance and the Data team. The role supports day‑to‑day financial processes and the ongoing development of a new Data Warehouse, ensuring data integrity for syndicate reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise between the Data Team and Finance Team.
• Validate Gross Written and Earned Premium calculations and related acquisition costs produced by the DWH.
• Identify calculation errors, apply manual adjustments for month‑end close, and recommend control improvements.
• Assist with onboarding new syndicates and implementing new writing/earning patterns in the DWH.
• Document and maintain effective controls over DWH data and downstream Finance modules.
• Develop AI‑driven exception reporting where appropriate.
• Support the creation of new DWH calculations, such as switching‑to‑signed premium recognition.
• Test and verify DWH reports required by third‑party syndicates.
• Promote AI usage to reduce reliance on Excel downstream of the DWH.

Required profile

• Knowledge of insurance accounting principles.
• Experience working in a project‑focused environment.
• Ability to collaborate with IT, Data, Finance and Actuarial teams.
• Strong reconciliation and methodical work practices.
• Experience handling large data volumes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and apply AI concepts.
