Financial Accountant – 18‑Month Fixed‑Term (Hybrid)

About the role

This 18‑month fixed‑term position is part of a finance improvement programme for a large, operationally complex business. The Financial Accountant will act as a subject‑matter expert, designing and embedding standardised financial processes and controls, and transitioning these improvements into business‑as‑usual operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing finance processes to identify inefficiencies, inconsistencies, and control gaps.
• Own specific process‑improvement workstreams and deliver against a defined programme roadmap.
• Design and document standardised processes and SOPs in line with group accounting policies and audit requirements.
• Support remediation of historical process and control differences.
• Work cross‑functionally with finance and operational stakeholders, delivering training and driving change through to BAU handover.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent); QBE candidates will be considered.
• Demonstrable experience in finance transformation, process improvement, or controls‑focused projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of financial accounting and controllership activities.
• Confident communicator able to challenge and influence stakeholders constructively.
• Detail‑oriented and solution‑focused, thriving in a fast‑paced, change‑led environment.

Required skills

• Financial accounting and controllership activities (month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations, intercompany, lease and fixed‑asset accounting).

• Salary up to £58,500 per annum, dependent on experience.
