Financial Accountant – International Retail (Hybrid)

About the role

This permanent position supports the financial accounting and compliance function of a leading international fashion retailer. Reporting to the Head of International and Compliance, you will ensure accurate statutory reporting, VAT and tax compliance, and sustainability reporting across multiple territories. The role is hybrid, with three days per week on‑site in London.

Key responsibilities

• Manage statutory compliance requirements across international territories.
• Prepare and coordinate financial statements and tax submissions.
• Work closely with external advisors and local compliance providers.
• Reconcile local statutory accounts to internal management accounts and resolve differences.
• Prepare and submit international VAT returns, optimise VAT recovery and monitor related regulatory changes.
• Monitor customs and supply‑chain developments that impact international operations.
• Participate in projects to improve processes, controls and reporting within the international finance function.
• Build strong relationships with Finance, Supply Chain and external partners.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified accountant or finalist, with strong financial accounting experience.
• International exposure, preferably multi‑currency experience and familiarity with USD.
• Experience of US GAAP and/or UK GAAP is highly desirable.
• Comfortable working across systems; Business Central experience is a plus.
• Confident communicator able to build relationships with stakeholders across finance and non‑finance teams.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused and eager to drive efficiencies and new processes.
